Catechism Class Resumption
All Catechism
classes resume today, Sunday, January 19th, 2025, at 3:45 pm.

Registration
for Prayer Class, First Holy Communion, and Confirmation classes will take
place next Sunday, January 26th, 2025, at 3:45 pm at the School Compound.
Note: Please
note that registration will be on a first-come, first-served basis due to
limited teaching capacity.
CONCERNING MARRIAGE:
I. Couples who wish to get wedded in the Church should first visit the Parish Office not less than six
months before marriage to notify the Church and obtain the necessary forms
ii. Please no fixing of date before you meet the Priest to get approval
iii. Couple must visit the Priest together for an interview
iv. Marriage instructional classes run for 16 weeks; please no fixing of date prior to class.
v. Couples who wish to get wedded in the Church must make sure they overcome the temptation of
getting pregnant before marriage. No couple will be wedded if this is the case. Please take note.
vi. Marriage banns must be published for at least three weeks both in parish of domicile and in couples'
respective villages
MIXED MARRIAGES:
Is the marriage between a baptised catholic and another who belongs to another Church or community
that is not in full communion with the Catholic Church; and it can only be granted permission by the
Archbishop under the following conditions -
i. The Catholic party is to declare that he or she is prepared not to defect from the faith and to make a
sincere promise to do all in his or her power to ensure that all the children will be baptised and
brought up in the Catholic Church.
ii. The other party is to be informed in good time of these promises made by the Catholic party so that
it is certain that he or she is truly aware of the promise and obligation of the Catholic party
iii. Both parties are to be instructed about the purposes and essential properties of marriage which are
not to be excluded by either contractant
2. CONCERNING RECEIVING CHURCH SERVICES
Henceforth, any member of the Parish who wishes to receive any service of any kind especially:
Baptism, Christian Wake keep, Christian burial, Blessing of lands and homes, Attestation letters
and so on, must show an identification of the following
1. Must be an engaged/active Parishioner, for at least 3-6 months;
2. Attestation letter from pious society.
3. Parish membership card duly signed by the Parish priest
4. If you are a Man, Woman or Youth you must show your CMO/CWO/CYON membership card of
active participation.
Please note that the Parish will not render any of it services to anyone without these.
REQUIREMENTS FOR INFANT BAPTISM:
- Parents must be registered members of our Parish, belong to a pious society and present
membership card or recommendation from his/her society.
- Photocopy of Child's Birth certificate
- Photocopy of the marriage certificate of the Godparents (where married) or Baptismal cards (if single)
must be submitted; must be sound and confirmed Catholics and must belong to a pious society
- If the Godparents are not members of our Parish, the parents must collect a form from the Parish
office, by which the godparents will be identified as practising Catholics by their Parish Priest.
- The Baptismal card of either parents or both must be presented to the Parish Priest
- The parents on bringing above documents must complete a baptismal form, in which necessary
information must be entered.
- Baptismal form, must be submitted with all the documents above and a five hundred naira fee.
